‘Tis the Season: Missing the company holiday party?

A great piece by A’s Netter Stephanie Cockerl of Next Steph.Enjoy

It’s that most wonderful time of the year. Some folks are looking forward to their company’s holiday party.

What about those of us who don’t have a holiday party to go to? It can sometimes seem lonely when others are celebrating while you are working. What can entrepreneurs do to foster networking and collaboration during the holiday season?

Here are some ideas:

  1. Thank your clients. We should be thanking our clients every chance we get. Without them, we would not be where we are today. You could send them something as simple as a thank you card. Send them ‘Thank you’ gifts. You could also throw a small get-together or a large event.
  2. Network with fellow entrepreneurs. Networking is continuous, and it should not come to a complete halt when the holidays roll around. One never knows when they need a favor during a critical moment. Because you have networked and reached out when there wasn’t a need, you would more than likely be top of mind when a need arises.
  3. Network with industry orgs and other networks – More than likely, networking groups are having holiday events. Don’t belong to a network? Change that now! What about your school networks? Ask a friend or fellow entrepreneur where do they network and join them. You never know where taking a few small steps can lead.
  4. There is always family and friends. Use the time to update the on what you are doing professionally. You never know. That “far-off” cousin or relative might be able to lead you to your next prospect.

These are some ideas to get started on networking, not only during the holiday season, but throughout the year.
