If You Don’t Market Yourself Who Will

Wow, my friend and trusted business resource Lisa Chalker of Family Affair Distributing sure nailed it in her most recent newsletter article. I just had to reprint it here!:

 

How many marketing messages do you see in a day? 100? 1,000? Well depending upon the source and research that you read that number can range anywhere from 3,000 to 20,000.

Amazing huh, and makes you wonder how the heck can your business get noticed and STAY visible for the long haul?

Maybe you’re a small to mid sized company or perhaps an entrepreneur in a highly cluttered and competitive market? Maybe you’re a solopreneur and just getting started?

Regardless we all know that it takes some very deep pockets to engage in much of the marketing that reaches us each day.

So yes, while a marketing budget is certainly required you don’t need the same marketing dollars as Coca-Cola or Apple or any of the other mega-sized global brands. Nope, there are definitely some effective and cost-efficient marketing tactics that everyone can use successfully to stay visible and branded in the marketplace and you can do so without breaking the bank.

I’m suggesting that you take a close look at how you can deploy a highly strategic marketing campaign using promotional products.

Promotional products have staying power. Unlike many other forms of advertising and marketing, promotional products are retained and often used each and every day. A pen? Heck, we reach for one innumerable times per day. A convenient stand for the cellphone that gets misplaced or hidden on a desk? Probably one of the most useful items that are out there right now.

The point is that promotional items are valued and used each and every day with your name, logo and tagline visible and therefore, remembered. And while they may not have the razzle-dazzle of a Super Bowl commercial (and how many of us have that sort of budget anyway!), they make quite an impact.

Call them tchotchkes, call them freebies, call them what you wish, but if you want to be spot on, call them impactful, cost efficient and effective.

That’s the real truth!

But back to the original question: if you don’t market yourself who will? Growing and sustaining a business takes more than just delivering a great product or service. You have to make certain that your potential customers KNOW and REMEMBER who you are and what you can offer and it’s up to YOU to make certain that they do so.
